On April 26, the Harvard Law School crew team took home a first place finish in the International Graduate School Regatta. The regatta featured graduate school crews from Boston College, the University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, MIT, Yale, and Harvard.

“We rowed well together throughout the course,” said Christopher Cummings ’10. “The competition was stiff, but we pulled out a victory in the final seconds. It was a thrilling race.”

The HLS team competed in the men’s varsity eight division against Yale and MIT. All three crews were neck and neck throughout the race, but HLS pulled ahead in the final seconds for a dramatic victory.

All experienced rowers, with team members who were varsity rowers in college and even a member of the Danish national team, the HLS crew team was comprised of Cummings, Kees Vandenberg ’09, Andrew Klaber ’10, Colleen Harrison ’10, and Paul Mezzina ’08. Four students from other Harvard graduate schools rounded out the team: Joe Mihalic (HBS ’09), Benjamin Kramarz (HBS/KSG ’09), and Aron Chang (GSD ’09), and Benjamin Hamilton.

The team plans to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta in the fall.
