“Early on I sensed that taking photographs was a quest, a path, a process of inquiry,” writes Don Krohn ’87 in the essay that accompanies his new book of photographs, “On Cape Cod,” published by David R. Godine. Krohn’s long photographic career has taken him around the world, but in this new collection he turns his focus to his home on the coast of Massachusetts: its reach and vistas. He also captures in words and photos a two-week Thoreau-like stay in one of the remote and primitive dune shacks in Provincetown. His goal, he writes, is to accurately represent Cape Cod “as a place of lightness and beauty where one leaves behind at the bridge the seriousness that diminishes our days.”
