“HLS Thinks Big,” an event inspired by the global TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) talks and modeled after the university’s “Harvard Thinks Big” event, was held at Harvard Law School on May 28.
Four professors presented on some of their recent work and research. This year’s speakers were Clinical Professor Daniel Nagin, and Professors Glenn Cohen ’03, Jeannie Suk ’02, and James Greiner.
Nagin, who is director of Community Lawyering Clinics at the WilmerHale Legal Services Center, addressed “Bureaucratic Knots: Veterans’ Benefits for the 21st Century.” Cohen, co-director of the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology & Bioethics, shared his views on “The Globalization of Health Care.” Suk, an expert on criminal and family law, spoke about “The Trauma Society.” And Greiner, whose research is currently focused on statistics and litigation, delivered a talk titled “A Nerd in Every Court and Law Office.”
On Wednesday, July 24, the law school will host this year’s “HLS Staff Thinks Big, Too,” which will feature some big ideas from HLS staff on how to build a better community in the workplace and the world. This year’s staff speakers will be Kyle Courtney, manager, faculty research and scholarly support services for the HLS Library; Susan Hackley, managing director of the Program on Negotiation; Daryl Muranaka, faculty support services coordinator; and Ernest Owens of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute.
