Harvard Law School Professor Randall Kennedy recently appeared on the radio program “The Takeaway” to discuss his new book “The Persistence of the Color Line: Racial Politics and the Obama Presidency” (Pantheon Books).
Kennedy examines what he believes to be the strengths and weaknesses of the presidency. He argues that even against the backdrop of racial oppression in America “the ascendency of Barack Obama shows our capacity for change, and change for the better.” Obama’s election, says Kennedy, has “changed the perception of what’s possible in America.”
Kennedy is the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the author of several books, including “Sellout: The Politics of Racial Betrayal” (Pantheon Books, 2008).
