The Harvard Law School trial team of Rahul Garabadu ’19 and Marilyn Robb ’18 won first place at the Northeast Regional Qualifiers of the National Trial Competition. The tournament is sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Twenty-six teams competed in the Northeast Regional Competition, which took place at Suffolk Superior Court February 8–11. Harvard Law School defeated teams from Boston College Law School, New England School of Law, and Yale Law School in their preliminary rounds. They faced off against Yale again in the semi-finals, winning 4-1 to make it to the final round.

The judges unanimously handed the victory to Harvard over Suffolk Law School in the final round. Robb received the individual award for Best Advocate.

Along with Kaitlyn Beck ’19 and Haydn Forrest ’19, Garabadu and Robb also won the Boston Regional Competition last year. In April 2017, the four of them placed fifth at the National Student Trial Advocacy Competition in Cleveland.

Garabadu, Robb, and Alexis Wansac ’19—along with a team from the University of New Hampshire—will represent the Northeast Regional at the National Trial Competition in Austin, Texas April 4-8. Amanda Mundell ’17 and Joe Resnek ’17 won the National Trial Competition in 2016. The Harvard Law School Mock Trial Association was founded in 2015 and has 26 active members participating in competitions this year. The program looks forward to continuing to bring trophies home to HLS.
